The Spanish athlete crossed the finish line in 25:34:02 and finished first among women.
In the outstanding scenario of the Japanese Mount Fuji, on September 25-26 2015 it was held the fourth edition of the Ultra-Trail Mt Fuji, the trail running race that contributes to the ranking of the Ultra-Trail® World Tour circuit.
The event, which kicked off on Friday September 25 at one o’ clock pm local time, took place over a distance of over 168 kilometers that runs the entire circumference of Mount Fuji, with a total elevation gain of 8,337 meters: an impressive circuit through mountain trails as well as forest paths, featuring landscapes with breathtaking views of the famous mountain symbol of Japan, the highest one in the land of the rising sun.
The race was attended by 1,400 trail runners from about 30 countries worldwide, including the Spanish Vibram athlete Uxue Fraile Azpeitia (1974 class), at her second season in the Trailrunning Team Vibram.
Uxue, with a personal history made of experience in athletics, raid-aventures and trails, was just back from her engagement in UTMB in Chamonix (France), where she was ranked second in women category.
This time Uxue did even more! With an amazing race, finished in 25:34:02, the Vibram athlete was ranked sixteenth overall and she was the first woman to cross the finish line!
Huge satisfaction for the Spanish runner whose first report was "I immediately felt that it could be a good day, and it was! The UTMF is a very tough race, but I managed to successfully face the worst moments. This victory makes me very happy, my first one in a race of the Ultra Trail World Tour circuit".
At the race, which proved to be even more challenging because of the rain that made the path slippery, Uxue ran with Tecnica "Inferno 2" shoes with Vibram sole, designed to make a difference on hard yet muddy terrains, a strategic choice on this occasion. A great success for Uxue, an unprecedented performance also considering her recent engagement in the UTMB as well as the fact that she had just three weeks to get ready for this competition.
One more achievement for Vibram that rewards the company's commitment to support the world of trail running.
